§ 10.28.050. Area closed—Portion of West School Lane—Crosswalk establishment.

A.

Closing Part of West School Lane. The City of Uvalde, Texas, closes West School Lane from the west side of the sidewalk on North Getty Street to North Piper Lane, during each year from August 1st through June 1st from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. from Monday through Friday.

B.

Definitions. As used in this section, the following terms shall have meaning and definition as follows:

"Motor vehicle" means a vehicle that is self-propelled.

"School crosswalk" means a crosswalk designated on a street by the City of Uvalde, Texas, to facilitate safe crossing of the street by children, students and/or school personnel going to or leaving a public or private elementary or secondary school.

"Vehicle" means a device in, on, or by which a person or property is or may be transported or drawn on a public street or public highway. The term includes, but is not limited to, a motor vehicle, truck-tractor, semi-trailer, truck-tractor and semi-trailer or a trailer.

C.

St. Philip's Episcopal School will Install Gate. St. Philip's Episcopal School will install a gate at the intersection of the east side of West School Lane and on the west side of the sidewalk of North Getty Street.

D.

St. Philip's will Close and Open Gate. The St. Philip's Episcopal School personnel will close the gate at 8:30 a.m. and open it at 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during each year from August 1st through June 1st. The City of Uvalde establishes a school crosswalk between the resource center and Briscoe Hall, and that St. Philip's School will place traffic cones on the east side of such school crosswalk at 8:30 a.m. and remove them at 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during each year from August 1st through June 1st.

E.

Unlawful to Operate a Vehicle. It is unlawful to operate any vehicle on West School Lane from the west side of the sidewalk of North Getty Street to North Piper Lane, during each year from August 1st through June 1st, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., from Monday through Friday.

F.

Only Vehicle Traffic Authorized by St. Philip's Episcopal School Permitted. Only the vehicle traffic authorized by St. Philip's Episcopal School will be permitted to travel on West School Lane from the west side of the sidewalk of North Getty Street to North Piper Lane, during each year from August 1st through June 1st from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. from Monday through Friday.

G.

Unlawful if Vehicle Does Not Stop at Crosswalk. It is unlawful if any vehicle does not come to a complete stop at the designated school crosswalk to facilitate the safe crossing at the school crosswalk by children, students and/or school personnel going to or leaving a public or private elementary or secondary school.
