Article I. INCORPORATION; BOUNDARIES; PLATTING AND ZONING |
§ 9. Organization of planning commission.
There is hereby created the planning commission of the City of Uvalde which shall consist of not less than seven (7) nor more than eleven (11) members appointed by the mayor, subject to confirmation of the city council, for a term of three (3) years, or until their successors have been appointed and have taken office. The city council may provide for overlapping terms whereby approximately one-third ( 1/3 ) of the members are appointed each year. Every member of the planning commission shall be a resident citizen and qualified voter of the city. The city council may designate the chairman, vice chairman and secretary or allow the planning commission to elect its officers from among the membership. The planning commission shall meet not less than once each month. Vacancies in an unexpired term shall be filled by the mayor, subject to confirmation by the city council, for the remainder of the term. Members of the planning commission shall subscribe to the oath of office required of other officers of the city.
