§ 8. Additional planning powers of council.

In addition to the powers of the city to regulate the platting and subdividing of property under section 5 and to provide zoning regulations under section 7, of Article I of the City Charter, and under the state statutes, the city council shall have the following powers:

(a)

Establish a planning commission as provided for in section 9 of this Article.

(b)

Provide for a director of planning and define his powers and duties, or impose such powers and duties on another city officer or employee of the city.

(c)

Adopt and modify plats and the official map of the city.

(d)

Adopt and amend the official master plan of the city.

(e)

Adopt any ordinances that may be needed to effectuate the powers granted by the City Charter, or needed to take advantage of any powers of aid afforded the city under statutes or regulations of the State of Texas or the U.S. Government or any agency thereof.
