Article I. INCORPORATION; BOUNDARIES; PLATTING AND ZONING |
§ 3. Extending city limits upon petition.
When a majority of the qualified voters for members of the State Legislature who are inhabitants of any territory adjoining the limits of the City of Uvalde shall petition the city council in writing to the effect that they desire annexation of the territory described in said petition shall have attached to it the affidavit of three (3) of such petitioners, setting forth that the subscribers to said petition are all qualified voters for members of the Legislation of the State of Texas and have been residents within the territory sought to be annexed for more than six (6) months next preceding and that same constitute a majority of the qualified voters residing within such territory, the city council may at any regular session held not sooner than fifteen (15) days after the presentation of said petition, by ordinance, annex such territory to the City of Uvalde and thenceforth such territory shall be a part of the City of Uvalde and the inhabitants thereof shall be entitled to all the rights and privileges of other citizens and shall be bound by the acts, ordinances, resolutions and regulations of the said city.
