Article I. INCORPORATION; BOUNDARIES; PLATTING AND ZONING |
§ 4. Extension of city limits by vote.
The city council may upon its own motion and shall upon a petition signed by not less than one hundred (100) qualified voters of the city or of adjoining territory sought to be annexed or not less than one hundred (100) voters, part of whom reside within the city and part within the territory sought to be annexed, annex any territory adjoining the city by calling an election for such purposes at which all qualified voters within the city and within such territory sought to be annexed may vote upon the proposition as to whether such territory shall become a part of the City of Uvalde. In addition to the regular city election boxes, the city council shall designate a point within such territory sought to be annexed may vote upon the question. If a majority of those voting at such election vote for the annexation, such territory shall become a part of the city and the inhabitants thereof thereafter shall be entitled to all the rights and privileges of other citizens and bound by the Acts, ordinances, resolutions and regulations of said city.
