§ 6.04.030. Disposition.

  • A.

    Upon the expiration of four days from the date of impoundment, or in the case of an identifiable animal, upon the expiration of four days from the date of contact with its owner, if the impounded animal has not been reclaimed by its owners it shall be classified as adoptable or not. The criteria for being adoptable shall be healthy, non-aggressive animal.

    B.

    Adoptable animals shall be held for an additional three days, or at the discretion of the animal control officer, up to 14 days.

    C.

    Non-adoptable animals shall be humanely euthanized.

    D.

    Any animal adopted from city custody must be spayed or neutered before release and vaccinated for infectious diseases.
