§ 6.04.020. Redemption.

  • A.

    If an impounded animal bears a collar tag or license identifying its owner, the owner shall be promptly notified of the impoundment of the animal, and any impounded animal shall be claimed within a period of four days.

    B.

    The owner of an impounded animal may redeem the animal before its disposition in accordance with section A. To redeem the impounded animal, the owner must:

    1.

    Pay to the city an impoundment fee of $20.00, plus $5.00 for each day of impoundment for the dog's maintenance and upkeep; and

    2.

    Produce a valid license receipt and current rabies vaccination certificate for the animal or deposit with the city in cash the sum of $50.00, which shall be refunded to the owner only upon presentation, within five days of the date of redemption, of a valid license receipt and current vaccination certificate for the animal.
