§ 2.24.040. Tax assessor and collector.
A.
Office Created—City Secretary to Act As. There is created the office of assessor and collector of taxes for the city. The city secretary shall be ex officio assessor and collector of taxes, and appointment to the office of secretary of the city shall automatically constitute appointment to the office of assessor and collector of taxes. The tax assessor and collector shall receive no compensation except such salary as is provided for the office of city secretary.
B.
Deputies. There shall be such deputy assessors and collectors of taxes as may be appointed by the mayor, with the approval of the city council.
C.
General Duties. The tax assessor and collector shall be the receiver and collector of all taxes levied and assessed by the city, and all other moneys due and owing to the city, unless other provision is made for such collection and receipt by some ordinance, and all of the fees and moneys collected by any officer, department or employee of the city for or on behalf of, or for the benefit of the city. The tax assessor and collector shall also perform such other and further duties as may be placed upon him or her by ordinances, by the mayor or by the city council in administrative session.
D.
Monthly Reports. The city tax assessor and collector shall make monthly reports to the city council at its regular meeting each month, showing the amount of ad valorem taxes, occupation taxes and license fees which have been collected by him or her for the previous month.
