§ 2.24.010. City attorney.

    Office Created—Appointment. There shall be a city attorney, who shall be appointed and hold office in the manner and for the term prescribed by the city charter for appointive offices.

    B.

    Duties. It shall be the duty of the city attorney, either in person or by representative, to prosecute all cases in the municipal court arising under the ordinances of the city; to advise the officers of the city government, and to give his or her opinion upon such legal matters and questions affecting the interests of the city as may from time to time be referred to him or her by the city council or any member thereof; to approve all contracts for the city and approve all official bonds and ordinances; and generally to represent the city in all actions or suits in any of the courts of the state to which the city may be a party.
