§ 17. Council rules of procedure, etc.; impeachment or indictment of council member.

  • (a)

    The city council shall determine its own rule of procedure, may punish its members, as well as the mayor, for disorderly conduct, shall compel the attendance of members, as well as the mayor, and, with the concurrence of the majority of the members elected, may impeach a member, as well as the mayor.

    (b)

    Any member of the city council, as well as the mayor, who may be indicted for a felony charge or against whom impeachment charges have been preferred shall be automatically suspended from office during the pendency of such case or charges and, in the event of conviction of such felony charge or such impeachment, shall forfeit his office and emolument thereof.
