§ 2. Grant of franchise.

Upon and subject to the terms and conditions hereinafter set forth, the City hereby grants to Company the nonexclusive right, privilege, and authority to erect, construct, re-construct, repair, operate, and maintain in, upon, across, over, and under the streets, alleys, public ways, and public places now laid out or dedicated, and all extensions thereof and additions thereto, in the City, poles, wires, cables, underground conduits, manholes, and other television conductors and fixtures necessary for the maintenance and operation of a cable television system. The City reserves the right to grant a similar use to any other person, firm, or entity at any time during the term of this franchise. In the granting of another franchise or other franchises, the City will not knowingly contract in a manner that deprives any franchisee of equal protection under the law.
