§ 8.04.010. False alarm fees.

    Definitions. As used in this section:

    "Alarm system" means an alarm system which is designed to signal an entry or attempted entry into the area protected by the system.

    "False alarm" means the activation of an alarm system by mechanical failure, malfunction, improper installation, or the negligence of a person in the area protected by the alarm system, without an unlawful entry.

    B.

    Fee. A fee is imposed upon any person owning or controlling premises in which an alarm system is installed in direct contact with the police department for police response to the fifth or any subsequent false alarm of the system in a calendar year. The fee is $25.00 for each such police response.

    C.

    Disconnection. If a person who owes a false alarm fee fails to pay the fee, the chief of police may, after giving the person at least ten days' notice in writing, disconnect the person's alarm system contact to the police department.

    D.

    Current List of Contact Persons. A person having an alarm system in direct contact with the police department is required to furnish the department a current list of persons to contact, showing names, addresses and telephone numbers, in the event of an alarm.
