§ 17.16.010. Procedure.

  • The city council may from time to time on its own motion or on petition, amend, supplement, change, and modify by ordinance the boundaries of districts or the regulations or restrictions established in this title. Any proposed amendment, supplement, change or modification shall first be submitted to the city planning commission for its recommendation and report. Notice of such hearing shall be in accordance with Section 211.006 of Vernon's Texas Codes Annotated, Local Government Code. If the city planning commission makes no report within thirty (30) days, it shall be considered to have made a report approving the proposed amendment, supplement, modification or change. After the recommendations and report of the city planning commission have been filed, a public hearing shall be held by the city council. Before the fifteenth (15th) day before the date of the hearing, notice of the time and place of the hearing must be published in an official newspaper or a newspaper of general circulation in the municipality.
