§ 15.26.090. General planting standards.

    Planting Standards.

    1.

    No artificial plant materials may be used to satisfy the requirements of this section.

    2.

    Each replacement tree shall be a minimum of three inches in caliper, a minimum of ten feet in height when planted.

    3.

    Each replacement tree must be planted at least 30 inches away from any impervious surface.

    4.

    Plant areas must be protected from vehicular traffic through the use of concrete curbs, wheel stops or other permanent barriers.

    5.

    No landscape tree or other material shall be planted in the vicinity of any corner or intersection to create visibility obstruction. A 15-foot visibility triangle shall be required, in which any obstruction 24 inches to seven feet above grade shall be prohibited.

    B.

    Transplanting existing trees shall be considered an acceptable method for preserving a tree if:

    1.

    The tree is a heritage tree;

    2.

    The tree is transplanted on the same lot, parcel, or development site; and

    3.

    The applicant uses a certified arborist or landscape architect to move the tree.
